Do you feel like running 5 kilometers and get paint thrown at you – and are you also okay with paying 300 SEK for this party? In September, you’ll have the chance to try this out when The Color Run comes to Lund.
On September 20th, The Color Run will come to Lund. In short, the concept of the run is that the participants run 5 kilometers while at the same time being completely drenched in colored paint. So: if you have 300 SEK to spend, your body needs a good run after all this summer’s rosé and you want to give some color to the autumn darkness at the same time, this could be something for you. The cliché: “having fun is the most important thing” is the basic concept of The Color Run.
The run is not a competition, but is it really that much fun to run 5 kilometers without a chance to win something? Claus Nielsen from The Color Run’s Scandinavian department thinks that the fact that it lacks an element of competition is precisely what makes this run unique.
“It’s not a competition, it’s a running feast. People don’t need to be skilled runner to join, we only ask that you are dressed in white when you start and covered in paint when you finish.”
The Color Run exists since January 2012 and started maybe not so surprisingly as an American idea. The concept is a trend that has lately appeared more frequently. Similar runs have been organized in other parts of the country by different companies.
In Uppsala The Color Run had to be cancelled, but in the South the plans are developing steadily. The fact that the run will take place in Lund also has its obvious and cliché-ridden reasons.
“We are convinced that Lund is the right place for this kind of party, due to the city’s tradition of party and culture. Apart from that we got permission to be a part of Culture Night”, Claus Nielsen says.
The run will start and end in the City Park. Apart from paint cannons there will be another event that will maybe be able to attract runners that otherwise wouldn’t voluntarily head out on the running track.
“After the finish, there will be a big after party. There will be a scene with a DJ and even more paint”, Claus Nielsen says.
