Tired of your same old place Have you made a fool of yourself at the dance floor? Or do you only want to meet new people and dance to music you never heard before? Lundagård checked out the club news this spring.
After extensive research it has to be said sadly that the news for those (or us) who are looking for new club concepts among the Lund nations are rather few. Many of the nations run existing projects. On the other hand, at Sydskånska there are things happening. During the forthcoming semester there will be three entirely new events on the Sydskånska club scene, among others the club Basbehov.
“If you visit Basbehov you can expect heavy music. You will be able to hear a lot of music that you haven’t heard before,” says Hampus Wikmark, one out of two Basic Needs’ Basbehov’s organizers. The curator Carl Artéus continues:
“We at Sydskånska have music competence. That is why we choose to have more narrow and niched clubs. Except with us at Sydskånska and Blekingska there are in principle only mainstream clubs in Lund. We do actually fill an existing need,” says Carl Artéus.
Spazio will do a guest performance at Blekingska
If you want to visit a club you have visited before but maybe in a new costume you should visit Blekingska. February 21st there is an opening night for a guest club, who many surely recognize from Smålands, namely the Spazio Social Club. That is, Blekingska has succeeded in taking over one of Smålands most popular clubs that also has made a guest performance at Babel in Malmoe. How did Blekingska succeeded in getting Spazio from Smålands? “Well, we have understood that it was popular. It is great that we have succeeded in getting Spazio. They felt like coming back and do a guest performance in the student world and recognized Blekingska as the best alternative,” says Jimmy Sok, curator at Blekingska.
“We have a good contact”
Blekingska has been successful in establishing a contact with one of the flagships of Smålands. Something that must be considered a prestigious recruitment.
Why did you let go of Spazio for Blekingska?
“We didn’t lose Spazio, instead they chose to test clubs in Malmö during 2103. We have a good contact with the Spazio gang and maybe they show up at our place sometimes during spring. Bearing in mind that Blekingska has permanent clubs, I don’t think they have taken over Spazio but rather it’s just a booking as everyone else,” says Johanna Söderman, nation representative at Smålands. But on your web page you state that Spazio is “The coolest club with a line-up rolling over the dance floor”. Why haven’t you booked them this spring if you have this good relation with them as you describe?
“Sad to say our web page is not always up-to-date. This spring we have two techno/house clubs and last Saturday we filled the premises when Tjejrejv visited from Malmö. Our club managers are constantly booking new events, and during the last months we have booked DJs from different parts of Europe,” says Johanna Söderman.
All together three out of ten nations have club news to offer during the next semester. The rest rumble on with the same projects as before. See you in the throng!
