Fonder för ynglingaborgens bevarande, YBB, retracts their ultimatum given to the Carnival Organization. Lundakarnevalen will now receive 31% subventions on the rent in AF-borgen.

Two weeks ago, Lundagård reported that the YBB, that make the decision regarding subventions of rent for student associations in AF-borgen and is a part of AF, had made an ultimatum for the Carnival Organization: 31% subvention of rent in exchange for four seats in the Carnival Organization.

Budget planned for subventions

The Carnival Organ, which owns Lundakarnevalen and consists of all the student unions of Lund, decided not to agree to the demands of YBB. Lundakarnevalen would instead get to rent premises without subventions – something that would lead to economic consequences.

”We planned for subventions in the budget, since we are a recognized student association in AF. Not getting that would result in economic consequences, and that means we’d have to look for other solutions”, the Karnevalsgeneral Fanny Ramel said to Lundagård at that time.

Rephrasing the decision

On Thursday night, the YBB decided to back down from their claim to the seats.

”We respect the difficulty the nations would face when handling the issue so closely to the Lundakarneval. In order to not jeopardize the Lundakarneval of 2014, we have decided to rephrase our decision.” the YBB board comments via the member Pål Katsler and the AF Chief of Operations Oscar Hillman.

Will highlight the question in 2014

This means that Lundakarnevalen will receive their 31% rent subvention. At the same time, the management of YBB decided that the Chief of Operations of AF, together with the YBB management, will highlight the question of seats in the Carnival Organization in the fall of 2014.

”We see a need for an unbiased investigation of the makeup of the Carnival Organization before future Lundakarnevaler. YBB needs to know the position of the student unions well before deciding in the question of future engagement in the next Lundakarneval.” the management of YBB writes in their comment.
