Gry Nordström and Hampus Fernström are excited and prepared for the Oktoberfest at Stampus tomorrow.

On Thursday the premises of the nightclub in Villan will change radically. Blue and white tablecloths, beer mugs and bar staff dressed in lederhosen welcome the visitors to Stampus Octorberfest.

“We thought it was such a good event last year that we are hosting the Oktoberfest this year as well”, says Gry Nordström, responsible for the event committee at Stampus.

This week she has been shopping for blue and white striped tablecloths and garlands in order to make the beer bar look more like a beer tent.

“We try as hard as we can to make it look like the real Oktoberfest in Germany” says Gry Nordström.

“Among other things we have bought a special kind of beer that will be served in beer mugs” Hampus Fernström, chairman of Stampus interjects.

Theme Thursdays are popular

The pub is arranged every week during the semester, but about once a month a theme pub is arranged. The theme is decided by the event committee which this semester is record-breakingly large, with about 30 active students.

“It’s so much fun that more people want to get involved. That means that we are able to do so much more”, says Gry Nordström.

The theme is chosen within the event committee by voting and is usually kept secret until a week before. The element of surprise is important in order to attract more visitors, but sometimes the theme is adapted according to season. Previously we have for example arranged a nightclub in October with Halloween theme and Valentine’s Day theme in February.

“We are expecting to draw crowded houses, we usually do that on theme Thursdays. So, the visitors have to remember to be there early”, says Hampus Fernström.
