Tag along in the preparation for the yearly welcome market – Hälsningsgillet.
It is 8pm and Carl–Johan Lindörn, the organiser of the Hälsningsgille, steps in to the Cafe Athén with his colleagues. It is only hours left before everything starts – all that will be taking place this Friday the 7th in the AF Building.
The Hälsningsgille is a yearly information market of sorts for both the students of Lund University and the public. There will be a total of over 140 different organisations, and an expected 4000 people will be coming. Just think General Information Market for the exchange students, but 10 times bigger and busier.
8.15pm: There was
previously a lecture on economics for the novisch group of political science until 8, where Carl–Johan and his team quickly swooped in after to move the furniture away.
“If there wasn’t a dinner upstairs in the main hall, we would probably begin preparing that area as well,” says Carl–Johan Lindörn.
8.20pm: The team brings in new furniture and begin setting up the tables and chairs that will play host to the variety of organisations.
“Preparations officially begin tomorrow morning at 8am, so this is just an extra precaution,” says Carl Johan.
8.45pm: Carl Johan and team discuss the placings of different booths within Cafe Athens.
9pm: The team takes a break and evening preparations are almost over.
“All that is left is putting the tablecloths on, then I will be here at 7am tomorrow for final preparations,” says Carl Johan.
