Time is running. Six weeks to go then the spring semester is over. Luise Krumm tells you which parties you should not miss during these coming weeks.

Talking to my Swedish friends about the most famous events in Lund nearly everybody mentions Valborg.

But what the hell is this day? Asking further around I figured out that Valborg which originally is the celebration of some female English Missionary called Valpurga, is a very popular Swedish holiday concerned meeting friends and drinking outside. So far so good, but what else is going on in Lund?

Lets start with some nice music. On 26th of April the Swedish band the Gipsy brothers will play at Kristianstad Nation on the next Internation event organized by TsiL and Hallbart Universitet. Like always free food will be offered and no student ID is required. Place: Kristianstad Nation, Start: 6 pm, Entrance: free

On 29th April is Kvalborg the night before Valborg during which Swedish people celebrate a lot. Most nations organized a special event for this night. Here is a selection of two which look pretty big.

Hallands and Västgöta nation decided to set up a Kvalborg party together. The party day already starts at 3 pm. Hang out at the outdoor stage and enjoy in the sun while listening to some DJ tunes. From sun set onwards the two dance floors in both nations will be opened for the crowds until 2 am. Entrance: Tickets need to be bought in advance and will be sold from Wednesday 18th April onwards in the nations, Price: 100 SEK, bring your ID and Student ID,

Another option is Lund nation’s  Brazilian Carneval inspired party. Between 3 pm and 6 pm the Penthouse will open its doors for all that like exotic burgers and some crazy carnival environment.  Then later from 10 pm onwards the party will start again with the carnival penthouse club. Note with this event tickets can be bought also for only one of the part of the party. Prices: party and food from 3 pm – 6 pm: 100 SEK; Party from 10 pm – 2 am: 60 SEK, Entrance for both parts: 120 SEK. Tickets can still be bought at Lunds nation.

On 30th April you should join the crowd and meet up with your friends in stadsparken. There will be loads of people just chilling outside and having some drinks. The FB event announces 12.000 people already and Radio AF traditionally sets up a big DJ set in the park. So grab your friends and take the chance to organize a picnic.

In case you are tired from being outside all the time, there is also an event in Myntha, the club at Martenstorget during the evening.

After this Valborg marathon the next party follows soon on 5th of May the Wake fest takes place. Come and watch the finals of the Wakeboard competition at Sjön Sjön at LTH. There will be a lot of people barbequing and a DJ will provide some nice music. Time: 10- 6pm, Location: LTH lake.

Have fun partying.
