Happy Monday, friends! There’s a plethora of fun things around Lund this week, so let’s get right to it:

First off, February 21st is Fat Tuesday! Yes, tomorrow’s the day it is absolutely required to eat a Semla, otherwise your Swedish residence permit will be revoked. No, but in all seriousness, you’ve seen this cute lil’ pastry in the windows of every coffee place since January; it looks like a cloud in a hamburger bun! Why wouldn’t you want one?

You can enjoy your Fat Tuesday with a guided tour of the Kulturen Museum, including a temporary exhibition of August Strindberg’s photography. I’m pretty stoked for this one, not gonna lie. Tickets for the guided tour are 40 sek and sold by the kind people at the International Desk.

To finish off your Tuesday with a feel-good flourish, there is a screening of Sun Come Up, a movie about the first climate change refugees at the Ecology building! It’s just as important as eating Semla. The film is in English and FREE, and there will be more movies shown in the upcoming weeks.

It’s 2012, which means the end of the world is upon us. With that in mind, there is a Doomsday party this Saturday, February 25th, in the Great Hall of the AF Building at 22:30. It promises to be the most epic party Lund has ever seen (outfitted with the world’s best speakers, lasers, lights, fog machines, house music, dancers, the list is practically endless) so get your tickets immediately at Malmo Nation (300 sek).

If you’d prefer something calmer (and less expensive) than impending Armageddon this Saturday night, A.A. Bondy, the American alt-folk artist, is playing at the Mejeriet this Saturday at 20:00. The music might be more depressing than Doomsday, but personally that’s more my style than “Party Rock Anthem” anyway. Maybe it’s yours, too! The price is 150 sek.

On Sunday, you can unwind from all that frivolity with a tour by the Unreliable Tour Guide Momus at Skissernas Museum at 15:00. He’s a Scottish artist that gives purposefully inaccurate tours of museums around the world, entertainment disguised as education. I honestly don’t know why more things in life aren’t like this.

And there you have it. Go forth and make your week great!
