Looking out of the window and watching kids try to slide down a hill with their plastic sleds makes it obvious: Winter is back in Lund!
Imagine that in a few minutes, I have to bike my slippery way to class. My grandma is calling and asking if I am really okay here in Sweden because she heard about how we’re living in minus degree weather (she still does not realize that I am living in the very southern part of the country). All this increases my longing for spring.
But then, my grumpy mood changes suddenly when I meet my Brazilian friend who for only the second time in her life experiences snow. She smiles so happily, tells everybody how beautiful she thinks everything is, and spends her time taken dozens of pictures with the intention to send them later to all her friends and family back home.
She reminds me of how stupid people’s constant complaining about the weather actually is and that it all depends on your perspective. So, just experience the weather the Brazilian way and start this week with the upcoming UPF lecture “The Modern Brazil” on Tuesday. Brazilian ambassador to Sweden, Leda Camargo will discuss the topic of contemporary development within and its economic situation.
Tuesday, February 14 · 7:00pm until 8:30pm, Café Athen, Lecture held in English

If you feel that your inner child still did not get enough while ice skating go and visit the LEGO World Fair in Copenhagen. The entrance: 140 SEK and tickets are on presale at I-mage of PR (Klostergatan) in Lund and NOIR (Engelbrektsgatan) in Malmö.
If you want to end this week in a nice and cozy way, take some friends to join the Sunday dinner at one of the student nation. The food is often really tasty and you can relax in a candlelight atmosphere. The price is about 50 SEK and start time is normally around 6pm. Just check the nations’ websites for details.
Have fun in Lund’s winter wonderland and see you next week.
