What is actually going on? Get a cultural guide to your neighbourhood.  But this week, Devyn White urges you to go somewhere else.

You guys, there’s so much to do in Lund, but I can’t stress enough: GET OUT OF HERE.  Go travel!  If you’re like me and from the States, a jaunt to Europe isn’t always the most feasible thing to do, and we have to make the most of our time here.

I’ve recently returned from a trip to Stockholm which has me hibernating for the week because I’m weak like that, but don’t be like me.  Travel until your brain starts bleeding out your ears from exhaustion, hit the coffee, and travel some more.

Secondly, I know it’s cold, but go outside!  This temperature burns calories.  I learned this the hard way in Stockholm, when hourly fika breaks proved to be necessary to survival.  Poor me, I really suffered.

I’m giving you a reason here to eat another “vacuum cleaner” (of the pastry, not Dyson, variety.  I’ve been told that no self-respecting Swede actually eats these.  Fortunately I am not Swedish.  Or self-respecting).

But enough of that.  Here are some ideas to help you fill your week:

Tonight at 19:00 is the prologue for PSYKOTERAPI X5, five theatrical renditions of the interaction between psychotherapists and their clients.  It’s therapy, staged.  PSYKOTERAPI X5 is written by actual psychologists, so you can expect to see a pretty realistic picture of what goes on in therapy.  The prologue is a lecture and conversation about psychotherapy with the playwrights, free of charge.  At Månteatern, Bredgatan 3 in Lund.

Music Evening of the Harder Type this Friday, February 10th at 18:30. 20 sek entry.  All you rocker-types might want to check this out; that entry price is less than a beer at a nation.

There’s a Jonathan Johansson concert this Saturday at Mejeriet if you’d like to hear some Swedish melancholic electronica.  Entry is 150sek; doors open 20:00.

Here’s an excuse to get out of Lund and see some more of the world!  The 6-Days of Copenhagen 2012 ends on February 7th (that’s tomorrow); from what I gather, it is amazing track cyclists from everywhere on Earth putting on some sort of sports show.  I don’t know much about sports, but any reason to check out the city is a good one.  Go to Copenhagen, is what I’m getting at.

If leisurely architectural tours are more your thing, you can ALSO do that in Copenhagen.  There is one next Sunday (the 19th) of Frederiksstaden, given by the Danish Architectural Center at 11:00 for 75 dkk.  But THIS Sunday you could go to The Danish Center for Architecture’s Drawing by Drawings exhibit, guided tour at 14:00, tickets for 40 dkk.  You could go to both next Sunday.

That’s all, international-denizens!  Hope you have a great week!
