Snow finally came to Lund, though not in the way you might expect. An extreme sports club in Lund brought snow in last Friday to build a miniature snow slope for some skiing and snowboarding fun.

A trio of Lundian youth have adopted a new approach to their difficult job search. They have marched around the city holding signs that announce their desire to be employed. Around 25 percent of youth in Scania are unemployed, and these three individuals cited difficulties in finding work through traditional means as a reason for their unusual new strategy.

Check out dance in film this week at “Dancing in the Dark”, Lund and Malmö’s third annual dance film festival. Films will play at Doc Lounge today in Lund, and at Kino until Friday.

Elinore Axelsson will be this year’s Lucia, following in the Swedish tradition of playing the role of the legendary Saint. The local 21-year old will tour Lund, stopping at the orphanage, hospital, and Christmas market to spread good will. Prior to being voted into the role, Elinore had been highly active in local community service.

More sexually-transmitted diseases are being contracted by Scanian youth while traveling abroad. A new study has found that young Swedes traveling to Thailand and Denmark are increasingly likely to get an infection. In Thailand, many young men buy sex, commonly with the help of alcohol.
