During Saturday, Lund will transform into an intense mix of culture, with everything from the vibrantly colourful Color Run to decadent documentaries on the program.

Last year, the total number of visits for all organisers was 50 000. This year, at Lund’s 31st Kulturnatt (or Culture Night), the schedule is jam-packed with activities from early morning to night, when the autumn dusk creeps in.

Kajsa Karlström, who is in charge of information and promotion for the event, describes Kulturnatten as an opportunity to learn what Lund has to offer in terms of culture.
“The idea is that it’s an evening where culture, in the widest sense of the word, takes place all over the city. We want to open people’s eyes to what goes on in Lund and the opportunities there are to join the cultural life”, she says.

Arranged by the City of Lund

Kulturnatten is arranged by the City of Lund, and they accept virtually all culture organisations that want to contribute somehow. The city itself organises some of the bigger events, like those at Stortorget, Lunds Stadsteater, Stadshallen and Stenkrossen.

Earlier, each Kulturnatt has had its own unique theme but since a few years back that has not been the case. Now all kinds of culture are welcomed to be a part of the event.
“You could never really tell what the theme was, the participants made such widely different things anyway”, says Kajsa Karlström.

Zelmerlöw draws the largest crowd

Kajsa Karlström picks out some events on the program that she thinks could appeal to students. The Color Run in Stadsparken, the documentary AMY at Mejeriet and “finely tuned pop music that might pull on your heartstrings” with Gaby and the Guns at Stortorget is to name a few.
“We think that Måns Zelmerlöw will draw the largest crowd. We are expecting between six and seven thousand people in the audience at Stortorget”, says Kajsa Karlström.

Lastly, Kajsa Karlström has a general invitation to the students of Lund:
“Dare to leave the student zone for one day and night and take the opportunity to see what else Lund has to offer!”
