Today, Lund is transformed into a labyrinthine jungle of culture. In order not to get lost among the 300-400 items in the programme, here are some tips which might work as a compass for the adventurous.

It is not only culture in the traditional sense that fills the streets and squares of the city today. This year, focus lies on culture in the widest sense of the word, and lectures in physics meet contemporary circus. Safe to say, there is something here for everyone. There are no entrance fees, but it can be a good idea to come early in order to get a seat.

Movies at Kino and Södran

Kino will be screening movies at half price for the entire day, and the programme can be found on their website. One thing you do not want to miss is Jag är Ingrid, which screens at 6:30 pm, and this year’s winner of the Palme d’Or in Cannes, Dheepan, which screens at 2 pm. At Södran, Joe Hill, a classic from the 70s by Bo Widerberg, screens at 6 and 8:30 pm.

In the catacombs of Lund

For anyone who have heard of the catacombs in Paris and mourns the lack of a Swedish counterpart to move into, there is a chance to experience a light version of that today. The crypt in Lund Cathedral is open from 10:30 am to 10:30 pm, and down there, artist Maja Spasova has created a sound installation called Att vara ett hjärta (To Be a Heart). Nothing for the easily frightened. If, after that, you are still not satisfied, there is a tour of the Drotten church ruins from the year 1050 at 6 and 8 pm.

Club after club after club

There is a packed schedule at Mejeriet the whole day. Between 3 am and 11 pm, art magazine Little finger hosts a repainting of the rocket in UV-colours set to music. Later in the afternoon, at 5 pm, there is a screening of the documentary AMY about Amy Winehouse. After that, the evening is kicked-off by the jazz club Underground at 7 pm. Then, there is a comedy club at 11 pm with, among others, Johannes Finnlaugsson from the radio show Tankesmedjan. The evening closes with a nightclub with DJ MRTN.

Escaping reality at Mårtenstorget

For the whole evening, between 5 and 11 pm, Mårtenstorget is filled with a variety of things to try out. You can build LEGO-versions of places in Lund, experience virtual realities with Oculus Rift, and experiment with 3D printers. Aside from that, there is an open bike workshop that can teach you how to manage the grim reality of getting that third flat tire of the semester. There will be concerts from every genre for the music enthusiast and a Silent disco at 9 pm for the introvert.

Bending reality at LTH

The variety and diversity of human culture can seem almost infinite. Just like space. In the astronomy house, there is a possibility to investigate just that with the help of a telescope during the afternoon. The curious mind can also listen to lectures on distances in space, the Hubble Space Telescope, what light really is, and the origin of the atoms of the universe. If you still have a sound mind after all of that, there is a laser show that have melted brains across the globe at 8 pm, 10 pm and 12 am to wrap up the evening. Be there on time to get your tickets!

A journey through pop culture

The actors at Månteatern invites you to a live performance where every nook and cranny of pop culture is under investigation. Everything from large space epics, Twilight and Swedish Idol is interpreted and analysed. The show lasts from 9-11 pm.

How hard can it be?

At Palaestra at 2 pm, you can try your hands at conducting the string orchestra of Akademiska kapellet. Have we not all seen the conductor waving about on stage and thought “I could do that”. Let’s find out!

Expressive art at Folkuniversitetet

During the entire day, Folkuniversitetet offers dance as well as theatre, concerts and exhibitions. Especially exciting is the exhibition by expressionist artist Christos Tziolas between 4:30 and 10:30 pm. Trace his inspirations to G.A.N and Kandinsky.
