In conjunction with LundaEkonomerna’s student orientation, a fadder (mentor) branded several novices with a cigarette. The event took place during a night out at Helsingkrona nation on the 25th August.
“I know of the incident and I was there at the nation when it happened”, says Charlie Widenfors, president of LundaEkonomerna.
According to information, the novice had received certain advantages by letting themselves be branded on the hands by the mentor in question.
“This is certainly not the kind of behaviour we stand behind and when I found out, I clearly told the mentor that this is not okay. I had a serious talk with him and followed the security guards when they escorted him out of the nation”, says Charlie Widenfors.
LundaEkonomerna takes the event very seriously and are sorry for what happened.
“This is not something that should happen during a new student week and, in hindsight, of course wee see this as a tragic event”, says Charlie Widenfors.
The matter has now been delegated to the ones in the student union responsible for the new student week, and they will investigate further what happened and talk to the ones involved.
“We want to make sure that no novice feel uncomfortable in any way after the new student week”, says Charlie Widenfors.
