Lund University placed 70th in a new ranking of the world’s universities – which makes the University the highest ranking in Sweden.
Last night, Swedish time, this year’s university rankings from QS World University Ranking were released. Lund University once again places itself as the unassailable number one Swedish seat of learning at 70th. The next Swedish university is the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, which is ranked 92nd.
However, both placings fell considerably from last year, when Lund came in at number 60. Last year Uppsala University was higher up as well when they ranked 81st, but fell 21 places in the latest ranking and is therefore out of the top 100-list. Eight Swedish seats of learning are to be found among the first 400 universities and colleges included in the QS World University Ranking. Number one is the American university MIT, followed by Harvard in second place. Cambridge in England and Stanford, USA, share third place.
The ranking comprise a total of 800 universities, which are compared with each other from a set of criteria like academic reputation and citation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio and international student ratio.
