The Easter holidays are coming up, providing a well-deserved break for students. What to do with all this free time? Here are Lundagård’s tips for a fun-filled Easter in Lund.
The city is already decorated with colorful feathers and flowers for the upcoming weekend. Even the weather forecast for this year’s Easter is predicting sunshine for the entire holidays. If you feel like getting into shape or want to compensate for the extra candy and chocolate over the break, join the International Desk’s Running Session on Thursday, April 2nd at 5pm at Stora Algatan 4.
The break might also be a great time to visit Lund’s Botanical Gardens as the spring flowers should be in full bloom. Starting from April 1st, guided tours through the gardens are offered for SEK50. Stadsparken is also worth a visit on a sunny Saturday or Easter Sunday for a picnic or even an early spring barbeque.
Culture
The Museum of Public Art offers a free guided tour on April 1st, 5.30 pm and there is a free art exhibition in the crypt of Lund’s Cathedral open every day until April 12th.
If you want to experience how the Swedes celebrate Easter, then visit Kulturen on Thursday, April 2nd between 1pm and 3.30pm (fee: SEK45 for students), do some Easter related arts and crafts and see children dressed up as påskgubbar and påskkärringar.
Like the Swedes themselves, you can spend your time coloring eggs or if you missed out on Christmas, try yourself at preparing a traditional Swedish holiday dish, “Janssons frestelse” (Jansson’s temptation).
Nation life
Many of the nations are on their normal schedules during the holidays and you can start off Easter with an Open Mic night at Kalmar nation, presented with the International Office on Wednesday, April 1st, at 6pm.
If you are usually too busy with school on Thursdays, then this is also your chance to attend Västgöta’s club METRO on April 1st (10 pm-2am).
Clubbing is not your thing, but live music is? Then head over to Småland’s Red Note Jazz Club on Wednesday to see Makross. Doors open at 8pm.
On Friday, April 3rd, Helsingkrona and Halland nation are opening their doors for their respective pub and club nights. Helsingkrona’s pub opens at 3pm, Halland’s at 7pm.
Finally, in case your Swedish culinary experiments went south, you can enjoy a cozy brunch on Easter Sunday at either Halland’s (11.30am), Lund’s (noon) or Krischan’s nation (noon).
