1,507,102 SEK. That’s the sum of Lundakarnevalen surplus distributed among 30 student organizations in Lund.
Lundakarnevalen 2014 went so well that student life will record a revenue. 1,507,102 SEK will be distributed to various student organizations that have submitted requests and proposals. The remaining money, about 2.55 million SEK, is invested in the next Lundakarneval.
At the deadline this January, 99 requests had been submitted and requesting a total of 6,410,886 SEK for various projects. The distribution group, consisting of the members of the carnival committee and active union members, has prioritized the proposals that will have an impact on student life and reach a broad number of students. Last night, Karnevalsorganet approved the proposals.
Karnevalsorganet approved all the proposals.
“We also had the liability for the financial year and the auditors were satisfied. Ten percent of the turnover is invested in the carnival as initial capital next time”, says Fanny Ramel, the carnival-general of Futuralkarnevalen.
What is next for you in the carnival committee?
“We will now notify all organizations on the distribution. Then the present committee will consider what advice we should give to the next committee”, she says.
Establishes a Taxi’s Service Fund
The student facility in Skanör received 210,000 SEK to renovate the sauna, the dining room and get new fire alarms.
“It’s great that the carnival prioritizes the student facility. Now we can make bets in addition to the budget that will be returned to the students. We hope to get started on the projects already this spring”, says Hanna Ekenberg, supervisor of student facility in Skanör.
You also got money for a taxi’s service fund as well. What is the taxi’s service fund about?
“We want it to be easier for students to travel between Lund and Skanör in a carnival way. If a committee or association would rent the facility, they may receive a financial contribution for the trip”, she says.

“It is great that we can think long-range and make this kind of improvements. It makes things work for the students so that they can then do a good job”, says Panda Ekvall (right), stage manager at the AF Building.
“It is very good that we do not have to put out small fires. Now it becomes a more stable expansion of the scene in the Great Hall and better logistical opportunities for large parties in the hall”, says Aron Klingberg, Operations Manager at the Academic Society.Photo: Lukas J. Herber.

“The old stands were built to the carnival in 2006 and really needed to be replaced. They are very useful when we are organizing the volleyball tournament Slap Off”, says Madeleine Forsberg, counselor (far left).
“Yes, the last time we had a tournament the old sand was used as temporary stands”, says restaurateur Fredrik Olsson, second from the left.
Others from the left are Niran Ahmed, the procurator of economy, Erik Rogland-Harutunian, the procurator of social, and Martin Ek, clerk.

TLTH gets money for a hot tub, believers of Gasquesalen and to renovate the kitchen at Lophtet.
“The kitchen at Lophtet is functional, but now we can freshen it up. 125,000 SEK does not cover everything, but doing it will not make it difficult financially”, he says.

“At proms and other special occasions, it has been difficult to find the correct student’s caps. Me coming from Stockholm, for example, has the Uppsala model, while it is the Lund model that applies here. We have not centrally had any student’s caps for rent previously”, says Carl Mauritz Arteus, President of the Curator College.
“Now we can purchase around 25 student’s caps”, he says.

“Our current insignia is a prototype that is not so good, so it’s great that we now can purchase new insignia”, says Sebastian Persson, Vice President of the Lus (right).
“We did not know if we would get any money, so we have not decided what the new insignia should be like. But it will probably be something with our logo or our name, and something that stands out”, says Oskar Styf, Lus’ President (left).
