Kristianstads Nation’s alcohol serving permit might be in danger. Now, the Nation is being investigated by the authority that grants permits in Lund Municipality.
The supervision-visit at Kristianstads Nation, Krischan, did not turn out as usual for the authority granting permits. The Nation was hosting a party with a serving permit and, according to the authority, several of the Nation’s workers, jobbare, behaved as though they were intoxicated. The authority witnessed how the workers filled coffee-cups with strong beer outside the recreation room, and how they then drank alcohol that did not belong to the Nation in the kitchen of the recreation room.
“We are dealing with a serious commission at Kristianstads nation at the moment, and we will commence an investigation concerning whether they will be allowed to keep their permanent permission to serve alcohol,” Annika Landfors, head of the authority that issues permits in Lund Municipality, says.
“All temporary permits for serving alcohol that the Nation has have been withdrawn. The investigation will take some time to undertake, but its results will show whether or not more measures are needed from our side,” she says.
Different workers
Last Thursday evening, Krischanstaspääxarna had a show, and according to Madeleine Forsberg, the curator of the Nation, it was an external team of workers that was working in the kitchen.
“This was nothing we knew anything about, it was the worker team’s own things. The team consisted of spexare from other places and were thus not members of our Nation. It is so blooming unfortunate when something like this happens,” she says.
Now, you risk losing your permit for serving alcohol. What consequences may a withdrawal of your permit result in?
“It would be a disaster. Two of our bigger committees are the pub- and nightclub activities, so we would have to change our activity as a whole.”
What measures will you take?
“We are going to keep a closer eye on our premises. More information and more clear information to the foremen and workers about what applies to them. We have good routines already and are working very hard with these kinds of issues,” Madeleine Forsberg says.
Receives training
At the start of every semester, the Municipality, Akademiska föreningen, the Student Unions, and the Nations arrange training seminars concerning alcohol for those foremen and employees who are to work with alcohol-related activities in the Nations. The supervision- visit is disappointing for Annika Landfors.
“We have worked so hard with training seminars and providing information to the Nations, and now, this happens. It is a big setback that we found this in 2014,” she says.
“Is this an isolated case or has the whole world of Nations changed their attitude regarding the serving of alcohol,” Annika Landfors asks rhetorically.
