Time for a Skåne-trip? If you are looking for vodka, military-town and good food, Kristianstad can be the place to go to.

People that have visited some countries of the post-soviet world, know what rectangular strict buildings can be like. Thus, the reason why one should definitely visit Kristianstad is not to observe still remaining military design, but to feel the atmosphere of a transitional city and meet people who want to share something about their native place, being amused by someone wondering about it.

That’s why, finding myself under such impressions, I have collected here some tips for you on how to turn your business or educational trip into a travel adventure.

First, visit museums and galleries. Maybe, you are not a fan of statues, pictures or other stuff like that, but no diggity, you like some great talks and learning interesting things about the place you stand with your feet on. For instance, you can learn more about Kristianstad’s transformation from the museum’s employees rather than from books. And by the way, since most of the Swedish museums are very interactive, one can enjoy and get new information from them simultaneously.

In particular, Kristianstad invites every traveler to explore its Regional Museum, to learn the history of the municipality, and the Center for Contemporary Art to contemplate the real masterpieces in a very lively way. Apart from these basics, Kristianstad is very welcome to offer a walk around more specialized Film and Railway Museums.

Second, pay attention to by-way things: that may be something you always wanted to explore, but it is not your primary plan during your visit. Let’s take Absolut Vodka, for example. Located not far from Ahus, its mother town, Kristianstad can share some information about Absolut Vodka design, if you drop by local shops or will be lucky to find an exhibition related to it.

Third, try new food in any place you visit. It doesn’t necessarily mean, that it should be a specialty of this place, as some places don’t have a distinguished dish. As an advice, inquire about the typical lunch of the local residents. Concerning Kristianstad, they say that some “spirit of food” lives in it, because it has always been the centre for food and drinks, though it has reoriented itself from production to Research&Development methods in this field.

If you end up in the Regional Museum, don’t skip the opportunity to drop by Museum Café for an espresso with homebaked delicacies or even a square lunch, one can choose from a variety.

Fourth, discover some small details of the place you visit, especially when you don’t understand their destination. Visiting some typical buildings, like churches, museums, parks and stuff like this is good, but what you will forever remember after your visit are some dribs and drabs, which nobody pays attention to, although they bring sense and essence.

Believe, such knowledge will make your travel story to friends more impressive.
