Increasing citizen skepticism toward streetcar line in Lund
According to Skånska dagbladet, the number of people in Lund negatively inclined to the streetcar line construction, is higher then their counterparts in Malmö and Helsingborg. Municipal Executive Board Chairman, Anders Almgren, refers to the impending investment being the worrying factor.

A survey by collaboration organization, Spis, indicates there are more people with a positive stance, than people with a negative stance. The survey results also say 33 % of the survey participants are worried by the projects funding.

Volunteering Conversationalist Make Swedish Language Accessible
Sydsvenskan reports that new immigrants learning Swedish consider group conversations to be a learning highlight. Every week, volunteering conversationalist visit the Södervärn Municipal Adult Education Institute in Malmö to engage in Swedish conversations, which gives the students an opportunity to practice their skills with native Swedes.

In general, many of the students learning Swedish rarely get the opportunity to speak to native Swedes, Sydsvenskan reports.

Mounted Police Officers to Stop Burglaries
According to Skånskan, the police report that mounted police officers intimidate burglars, thus serving as an impediment to housebreaking crimes. This is a method applied in several private house neighborhoods, such as Staffanstorp, Lomma, and Kävlinge, according to local news service, SVT Sydnytt.

The dark period of the year is the burglar’s peak season. The police hope their efforts using mounted police officers will have a deterring effect on the perpetrators.

Six in Favor of Six Streetcar Line Effort Plans
Skånskan reports that the new Lund Municipal Executive Board launched their first meeting by passing three matters, which shared railroad traffic as their common denominator. Among the 50 issues discussed, 6 of them involved detailed plans for the streetcar line project.

However, an issue in need of clarification during the meeting, was the fact that the streetcars may obstruct emergency response vehicles around the hospital zone.

Grocery Store Salad Bars Comply with Quality Requirements
Skånskan reports that the grocery store salad bars are of high microbiological quality. That is the conclusion drawn by Lund Municipal Environmental Institution. The exposure of the salad ingredients makes it difficult to guarantee the salad quality. The test project included 10 stores, in which 3 groceries were sampled. The ratings ranged from ‘satisfactory’, ‘acceptable’, and ‘unsatisfactory’.
