Last Monday, enrolment at the nations began. For a month, nations, student unions and the Academic Society try to attract new students to a voluntary membership in Studentlund. First to enrol at Krischansta Nation was Huijin Ying.

The chocolate balls are out, the photo collage assembled, and the coffee is brewing. In the cozy recreation room at Krischansta Nation, some of the freshmen have come to sign up. The enrolment software Membit is making a bit of a fuss, but the issue is soon sorted out.
“I decided this weekend what nation I wanted to join,” Huijin Ying, about to study a master in psychology, tells us.
Krischan caught my eye during the Student Association Fair. I didn´t want to end up in too large a nation, and Krischan seemed small and welcoming,” she says.

Getting involved
Since autumn term 2010, enrolment at any nation is voluntary, but in order to take part in Studentlund activities, it is a necessity. Last term, over 20 000 Lund students were members.
Having prepared for the enrolment at Krischan for a long time are John Rådberg and Sara Kurki, freshmen supervisors, and Elin Malm, international secretary.
“We work to make sure the freshmen feel welcome and are able to appreciate their time as students. As freshmen supervisors, we focus on hosting fun activities for the new students this first month,” John Rådberg says.
“Hopefully, the freshmen stay the entire term and get involved in the nation or visit our different committees, for example the pubs,” he says.

Water fights and pool nights
The freshmen at Krischan can expect a full-packed schedule. A water fight against Helsingkrona Nation, Swedish Baking Night, and a sauna-pool-and-singing-evening are all coming up. But the goal is not a specific number of new students.
“Of course we want many people to join Krischan, but we prefer quality rather than quantity. We want them to feel at home, and that´s why a number game feels wrong”, Sara Kurki says.
