How is it to do an internship? And how is it to do it at a United Nation department in the Maldives? Lundagård´s Jane Dinh got the answer.
A career move for some, or an opportunity to participate in organizations you always dreamed of. Many students think of how it could be to do an internship during their studies.
Jane Dinh, environmental science student at the Lumes programme, takes her summer break in the Maldives. But not for holiday. She will be an intern at the United Nation Development Programmes (UNDP) office’s local project. Through interviews and place visits, she will work with the organization’s strategic communication and their environment an energy products.
What are you going to blog about?
– I will work with several issues connecting to the UNDP local communication. So there will be everything from everyday strange adventures to pre election-reporting, as the Maldives is having elections in September. And apart from everyday life comments from the office and my colleagues, I want to make some video blogging of my experiences.
What do you expect when you arrive?
– Tropical hot summer weather on a crowded small area and maybe expensive living costs because it´s an island. I expect also to be met with prejudices because Asian-looking girls in the Maldives are thought of as prostitutes.
Want to know more about her project, her landlady and how it is to be a part of the big UN-family?
