Soon cheaper beer in Denmark
Daily hundreds, maybe even thousands of Danes travel to Germany to buy beer and soda, as it is cheaper than in Denmark. As a result of this, the Danish government has decided to lower the taxes on beer and soda starting July 1st this summer.
This means that an average family will get more money in their wallets and calculations by family economists predicts that the average family will make 500 DKK on lower tax on soda and 100 DKK on beer.
Recycling cans and plastic bottles
The Swedes have a well-developed system for recycling and 58 percentof the cans and bottles are recycled. Internationally very high and if recalculated to units it means that every person in Sweden recycled 154 cans and bottles in 2012. However, the differences between different areas of Sweden are big. A person living in Stockholm recycled 141 containers, while a person living in the region Värmland recycled as much as 228 containers.
Are people in Lund good at using bikes?
According to the Danish organization Copenhagenize they’re at least not as good as the people in Malmö. The organization started in 2007 and lists on a regular basis cities in the world with regard on how many of the inhabitants that use a bike daily. This year they have ranked 150 cities worldwide. Topping the list is Amsterdam, followed by Copenhagen. Malmö is on the seventh place, but Lund is not found among the top 20.

Last year’s success for Swedish Loreen in Baku, Azerbaijan has brought the contest to Malmö. This year there are 39 countries participating, and there will be 26 countries in the final. Sweden has won the competition 5 times, starting with ABBA in 1974.
More than 200 million viewers worldwide will watch this year’s contest and only the TV-transmission costs around 125 million SEK. The contest takes place at Malmö Arena, but there will be a lot of activities around Malmö. Even in Lund there will be a ”We party too” week full of events, and students will have the possibility to watch the contest final at Hallands nation on a big TV-screen.
