Study rooms for students in AF-borgen. That could become reality at the turn of the year when many rooms become empty.

“We’d like to find something that brings a large flow of students”, says Stina Åkesson, CEO at AF-borgen.

When AF Bostäder leave their office in the castle at the turn of the year, AF Borgen AB needs to find new tenants. For that reason, Stina Åkesson has suggested to the university management that the rooms on the fourth floor could become study places.

“We have handed in a proposal to the university, but they haven’t returned to us yet”, she says.

Now it’s up to the university to decide if this is something they want to discuss, says Stina Åkesson. As of now, it is too early to say what it would cost.

“That depends on how extensive it becomes”, she says.

Now it has also been decided what will happen to the rooms on the third floor that will become empty. As Lundagård reported on earlier, several organisations will move in to create a student life centre.

The chairmanship and committee of Akademiska föreningen, the student union collaboration Lus, the Lund doctoral students’ union and the nation collaboration Kuratorskollegiet will form a collective in AFB’s rooms.

Something that Stina Åkesson believes will further student life.

“Meeting each other in a natural way creates a creative environment”, she says.
