Two political science students and a journalist are put forward to head Lundagård for the upcoming two years. On the 11th of april, Lundagård’s election committee decided to nominate Kenneth Carlsson, Annika Skogar and Carl-Johan Kullving for the editor positions.
“It feels strange, but very inspiring”, Kenneth Carlsson says, suggested editor and legally responsible for the publication.
He’s originally from Helsingborg and has been Lundagård’s entertainment editor since autumn 2012. Something he hopes will show in the magazine.
“We are going to keep up our scrutinizing journalism, but words and images will become a little more stylistically interesting and we will dare play around a little more. I hope reading Lundagård will become more fun”, he says.
Furthermore, Kenneth Carlsson wants the magazine to cover Campus Helsingborg better.
“The aim is to have something concerning Helsingborg in every issue. It is painful that we often miss one tenth of the students at Lund university”.
Annika Skogar, suggested assistant editor, received the news of her nomination at a military training session. With mud up to her ears she first felt joy, then frustration. The formal decision is not made until May 16th at Lund university Student Unions’ election session.
“It feels great, just a little frustrating since it’s not done yet”.
If elected, Annika Skogar wants to make Lundagård a broader magazine.
“When the semester kicks off I want us to be present and visible. Lundagård has been fairly anonymous, despite the fact that we reach all students”.
Annika Skogar is currently taking her last semester at the political science bachelor’s programme. The intended web-editor Carl-Johan Kullving is doing the same thing. At this very moment he is studying political science at the University of Hong Kong. The interviews for the position have been done over Skype.
“I thought it could be a disadvantage that I couldn’t do the interviews in person. Now that I have been nominated it feels incredibly nice, he says.
Carl-Johan Kullving has previously worked for Barometern and Värnpliktsnytt. He feels that that experience will supplement the other two candidates well.
“I almost want to use the sports cliché of “dream team”. Kenneth is the only one of us that has studied journalism and has a great sense for news. Annika is incredibly good with the culture part of things and can give that a good boost”, he says.
Annika Skogar has had many commissions of trust outside of the student world. She wants to bring this with her to the editorship.
“If you think about the student’s world in Lund, you think about nations and unions. But it can also be the hiding of refugees in the student housing”, she says.
Lundagård’s chairman of the board Hanna Gunnarsson is pleased with the candidates. All three have extensive experience of Lund’s student life and Lundagård was decisive, she thinks.
“Student life here is fairly complex and it takes some time to learn. These three are anchored in student life and know what they want to do and what difficulties there are.”
