Even if Lund can be rather empty and boring during the Easter weekend, you still have reasons to cheer up, writes Vasco Costa.

Last year I stayed in Lund during Easter but my memories from that weekend are not the best: days were dull, without much to do. This is because many students leave for a few days and usual student activities, like some clubs at nations, are closed during the weekend.

But still, that doesn’t mean you will not have anything to do if you are staying here this week.

You’ll see why:

Between Monday and Thursday, you can experience science in an interactive and amusing way for 45kr at Vattenhallen. The experiments are accessible for everyone, so you don’t need to be an expert in physics or chemistry to understand them. Besides that, everyone can build something and take it home!

Going from experiments to reality will be easy! On Wednesday, at 19:00, Thomas Van Hare, a former advisor to three different administrations at the White House, will explain why he is now a student in Lund. But, most importantly, he will use his experience and talk about reconstruction efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Music is a good way to entertain people and relax, and jazz can be especially effective for that. On Monday, Mejeriet has its musical evening, with jazz and swing inspired rhythms. You can listen, dance, take a drink but also eat, as food is served between 18:00 and 20:00. The student price is 70kr and there is a quick dance course for beginners before the start.

On Thursday, Hotel Lundia presents its Jazz Night, as usual. This week will be time for Lina Nyberg to perform. She is a well-known Swedish jazz singer and composer, with a vast discography. The admission is free of charge and the live performance starts at 20:00.

So, cheer up and enjoy the week!
