The dates of the Lund Carnival 2014 have been set to May 16-18 2014. During those days Lund will once again turn into a Scandinavian replica of the Rio de Janeiro carnival.
Suddenly, a window in opened with a bang, and some white smoke trickled out – the carnival committee had agreed on a decision.
Shortly thereafter, the committee members showed up on the windy stairs each of them carrying a blue-colored piece of cardboard. All together showing the dates of the carnival, May 16-18 2014. A group of wind-beaten enthusiasts cheering and shouting AT LAST! Perhaps a temperance since the last carnival 2010 was finally put to peace.
The revealing of the dates was literally interpreted with balloons tied to each number or letter, and lifting the text towards the skies. But not higher than a few meters as the cord was short.
The Communications Officer, Clara Luthman, told us how they had chosen a weekend to suit as many people as possible.
”We have looked at when exams and other arrangements are planned, and during this weekend there were no events in Lund. Furthermore, during this weekend, according to statistics, the sun is almost always shining”.
Clara Luthman is also one of the bakers of the cake, or the rainbow cake as she calls it.
The rainbow cake, colorful candy bowls, a committee dressed in different colors – maybe a hint of the carnival theme?
”We cannot speculate about the theme – yet! says Clara Luthman with a big smile.
