Motorist rams Malmö emergency room
Malmö A male motorist crashed his car into the infection ward’s emergency room for unknown reasons this Monday, injuring no one but himself. As the man was severely wounded in the collision, and had to be operated on shortly after the incident, he has not been able to answer any questions. However, the psychiatric ward is investigating whether the driver could be a patient that was turned away from their department. Alcohol and drug tests have not yet turned up any conclusive results.
Successful jewelry store heist in Lund
Lund Three masked robbers made off with jewelry worth approximately one million SEK following an armed jewelry store heist this Monday. No one was physically injured during the theft, but several bystanders and members of the staff are said to be in shock. The suspected getaway car was later found in the south of Lund, and was subjected to forensic examination. Eyewitness accounts point to the robbers having switched to a second vehicle after discarding the first. The police are continuing the investigation.
Academic outrage about cutbacks in Gender Studies
Malmö/Lund The decision to dismantle large parts of the Gender Studies department at Malmö University has been met with heavy criticism from affected teachers, researchers and students. Following loud initial protests, the department was allowed to retain the Gender Studies introductory course. However, this concession only sparked more outrage among the faculty. This Wednesday, a panel discussion was held in Lund to question the cutbacks, drawing a large crowd.
30-year old mother-arsonist charged with aggravated assault
Malmö On December 22 last year, a 66-year old woman suffered heavy burns after being set on fire by her son. Shortly after being found with burn marks on his hands, the 30-year old man confessed to the crime, and has now been charged with severely aggravated assault, a felony that normally yields four to ten years in prison. According to the mother, the son has a history of mental disorders.
