Illegal activities among apartment rental companies?
Gothenburg/Stockholm Apartment rental companies for students in Stockholm and Gothenburg have for some time been controlling if the students renting their apartments fulfil the rental requirements without the students’ permission. At the moment the companies are being examined by the authorities to decide whether it is illegal to check up on students in this way without their permission. However, some people claim that this system results in a much faster process and hence more apartments could become available for people who actually study.
Queen Silvia press charges against several newspapers
Sweden Queen Silvia of Sweden is pressing charges against several newspapers for publishing a montage of her scrubbing of a swastika from the floor while the King and his friends are eating pizza from a naked woman’s body. The royal family assert that making the Queen appear like she is trying to sweep Nazism under the carpet is a serious and false accusation. The montage made by the famous and controversial artist Elisabet Ohlson Wallin has been published in several different newspapers since October last year.
Centerpartiet revising controversial ideas
Sweden Last year Centerpartiet, one of Sweden’s liberal parties in the coalition government, presented a controversial set of ideas for their political program, which have now been revised. The ideas presented before the revision included among others free immigration and legalizing of polygamy. These ideas created much controversy and therefore in the new set of ideas presented, the party has excluded legalisation of polygamy and revised the idea of free immigration.
The man behind Muhammed drawing soon to exhibit in Malmö
Malmö Lars Vilks, the artist who became greatly criticised for his drawing of Prophet Muhammed will now exhibit his controversial art at a gallery in Malmö. Vilks is famous for making very controversial statements and the depictions of the Prophet upset Muslims all over the world. The chairman of Malmö’s executive board Ilmar Reepalu says that he hopes that nobody will visit the exhibition because as he continues, Vilk’s art is deplorable.
