Mid-February is already almost here, and although it is still often dark and gloomy, there are still many activities and events to spice up the winter blues! Jane Dinh takes you through next week.
Even if you are now familiar with the many events the student nations here at Lund offer, it may be hard to discover other activities if you are new to Lund. If you are looking for more variety of events you can join, take a look below for other activities you can do both here at Lund or in nearby Malmö!
Looking to discover new, local bands? Look no further than Malmö! On February 13, 14, and 15 Malmö’s music club Babel will be hosting an event called Emergenza, which is the preliminary round of the battle of the local bands. Bands that progress to the further stages will be decided by the audiences’ votes, so come to support your favorite bands!
This would be a great way to not only experience night life in Malmo but also to discover new bands! Tickets can be bought before-hand for 85 kr, or at the door for a slighter higher price.
Like flash mobs and want to support a violence-free world for women? Come join other students from One Billion Rising Lund’s Flash Mob at Stortorget on Valentines Day at 1600, and afterwards at you can join them for fika and discussions at the Language Cafe at 1700.
Are you a fan of Eurovision, and want to experience a Swedish tradition? Gather around the TV with your Swedish friends to watch Melodifestivalen on Saturday February 16 at 8PM, on SVT1 or SVT Play. There the country’s representative will be chosen for the Eurovision Contest, a large music contest which will be held in Malmo later this year.
Fancy sports? This week you can get the chance to see Roller Derby and Ice Hockey games in Lund and Malmo. On Wednesday February 13, ESN will be organizing a trip to Malmö to watch the Malmö Redhawks play. Tickets cost 110 kr and can be bought at the ESN office at the AF building. Then on February 16 the Malmö Roller Derby team play their first game of the year, fighting against the Stockholm Roller Derby team. This would be a great chance to watch a unique and fun sport in person!
