This year, the Alta Kamererns ballet is turning 35 and its members are celebrating its middle age with a musical journey through the 20th century. Everything from 20’s jazz to 70’s disco – even something as crazy as a trombone ballet.
The Kamrér ballet was founded just in time for the Lund carnival of 1978 and together with the older student orchestra Alte Kamereren they form a musical alliance. For the anniversary on the 16th of February its members are putting together an anniversary concert and will give two shows at Lunds stadsteater. The theme for the evening shares its name with the classic Marcel Proust’s series of novels Time regained.
How familiar do you have to be with Proust to appreciate the show?
“Not at all. The theme leaves plenty of room and is a fun game of association hinting at the 35-year anniversary. The show will include everything from 20’s jazz and film scores to disco and marches as well as a trombone ballet in which the musicians dance with their instruments,” the evening’s host Anders Nyholm promises.
Earlier anniversary shows have also had humorous themes. When the Kamrér ballet celebrated their 25th anniversary the show was called “Twenty five and still single” and at their 30th “Thirty and urbane”. You could say that they treat the anniversary more as a person celebrating his or her anniversary.
On the Wikipedia page for the Alte Kamereren you can read the following: “The orchestra performs standing, walking, lying or bathing”.
Will the orchestra perform bathing this show?
“Haha, I believe the people at the theater would be very sorry if we flooded the place, but I will bring up the suggestion”, says Jules Hanley from the anniversary group.
Why should you buy tickets for the anniversary show?
“Because it is more interactive than going to see a movie. It is simply two very well-spent hours of music and dance. Like a student’s farce but more enjoyable one could say”, Jules Hanley concludes.

It’s nice to see that Siri Jules hasn’t lost her sense of humor. Somewhere along the line, once she started to ‘plugga’ at Lund, she did. Now that she found it again, she can go thru life as usual again. I am a compulsive punster and couldn’t resist—hehehe
