AF Bostäder wants to raise all rents starting from next year. Negotiations are underway with Hyresgästföreningen about the raise, which looks to be considerably larger than those of previous years.
Negotiations between AF Bostäder and Hyresgästföreningen have begun and were held all throughout last Monday.
According to Hyresgästföreningen’s executive negotiator Michael Grönvall, AF Bostäder demands a raise of 2,5 percent for 2013. This would be a considerable increase of the goal compared to the results of 2012 and 2011, which numbered 1,4 and 1,25 percent, respectively.
So far Hyresgästföreningen is unwilling to present a specific goal for the negotiations, as they are willing to hear AF Bostäder out and discuss their reasons for wanting a raise.
– We negotiate on the behalf of all tenants, not just members of our organization, says Mikael Grönvall.
Henrik Krantz, who was appointed CEO of AF Bostäder on November 1, confirms the reports of their intention of raising rents by 2,5 percent.
– There are two main reasons for the raise, first there’s the running expenditures like heating, water, and media, the latter of which includes internet connections. There’s also the continuous long-term maintenance of all accommodations, says Henrik Krantz.
It is still unclear how long negotiations will last, and both parties say that they will take their time.
