Radio AF celebrates 30-year anniversary
The 1st of November 1982, the student driven station Radio AF did its very first broadcast. During that time, the radio was called Radio LSAF and sent eight hours a week. Today Radio AF is the largest student radio in Scandinavia and makes of approximately 130 volunteer students. The broadcasting takes place Monday to Friday and the range consists of 44 shows with elements of student news and music. The anniversary will be celebrated on the 3rd of November in the banquet room of the AF building with over 100 participants.
Improved environment for cyclists
The Investigation of Cycling presented last Wednesday several proposals to the Swedish government on improving cycling. The aim is to simplify the lives of cyclists by making better roads and cycle parks. One of the proposals is that children should be allowed to ride on the sidewalk. Another one suggests cyclists having priority at crossroads.
The Investigation of Cycling also urges The Transport Administration to review the chaos around Malmö C and Lund C, as procedures for bicycle parking must be improved in these areas.
The propositions are expected to come into force in July 2016th.
Telepathy is possible, according to university professor
A study, which can be read in the latest issue of Lund university magazine, has brought an outcry in Sweden. The professor of parapsychology, Etzel Cardeña, at Lund university, claims his studies shows that telepathy is possible. Several scientists angrily argues that there’s no evidence that supports his research. There has been critic towards the professor, since he used himself as a human test subject in the experiment. He also allowed people who believed in telepathy and who stood close to each other to participate. Cardeña himself says that the criticism is absurd and refers the critics to read his research report.
Time to shave and grow your mustaches
A crowd of men and others interesed in shaving their faces was gathered in Café Athen last Thursday. To make people aware of prostate cancer, they will grow their mustaches for a whole month. The project is therefore called Movember. Earlier years, similar projects have been held in Sweden like Cancerfondens Mustachkamp. One of the participants, Robert Lekström, says: “There is a lack of media interest for men’s testicles”.
