In November, male students will not shave their upper lip to increase prostate cancer awareness.
After a pink October, in which attention was given to breast cancer in various ways, the coming month will be all about raising awareness for prostate cancer. This time, however, the men are asked to contribute themselves, by ignoring their shaver for a month.
What is Movember, initiator Björn Johansson?
“The Movember campaign means that men grow a moustache to create awareness for prostate cancer during the month November.”
What is the goal?
“We want all students of Lund University to start talking more about men’s health and especially prostate cancer, since it’s a subject that is rarely spoken of. And we try to do it in a fun way – by growing a moustache!”
How can I become part of this?
“Well, on Thursday November first, there will be an event in Café Athen, where some barbers will shave off the moustaches of the guys that will be part of Movember. You can also register at www.movember.com and donate money for research on cancer, or start a Mo-team to support each other!”
