Last year there was 200 waiting in line to get a housing at the opening of Arrival day. At ten a clock this Tuesday, only 62 had stepped inside the lottery system where the university handed out accommodation.

– We´ve expected 500 students in total to come without housing, but this looks really good, says the executive at LU accommodation, Sara van Lunteren.

Why do you think there are so few?

– I don’t know really, but we have improved our assigning system for housing so I guess most already got there places.

Susanna Hansson, the municipalities representative for student issues, have been involved in several Arrival days before.

— Everything seems very organized this year, and there is not that much chaos as it usually is. But you wonder where all the expected students might have gone.

At 3 pm, the room that was filled with searching students this morning had emptied.

Everyone that went there had got an offer, also the once that came after 10 a clock then the lottery was finished.

– All our dorms in Lund have been taken, but we still got places in Helsingborg and Malmö, says Sara van Lunteren.
