The Grammis Awards, a Swedish equivalent of the American Grammy Awards, took place on Wednesday. Singer Lykke Li took home the two most coveted awards, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. DJ and remixer Tim Bergling, more well-known by his professional name Avicii, took home Song of the Year and Innovator of the Year.
Riksbanken (The Swedish National Bank) has lowered their interest rate from 1.75% to 1.50%, an indication that the Swedish economy and world economy is on a downward slope. The bank stated in a press release that, “future Swedish economic developments have been worsened as a result of the downturn of the economy in the rest of the world.”
A thirteen-year-old girl was assailed by a man in the 40s age range this past Wednesday night at Östra Torn in Lund. The girl stepped off of a bus at around 23.00 when she was approached by the stranger.
Seven people were sent to the hospital in an unusual traffic accident when a truck tipped over a tree that subsequently fell on top of a bus on Trollebergsvägen. Nobody in the accident was seriously injured.
Sweden’s traffic authority has announced a Class 1 warning over Scania’s roads because of snowy and more recently very wet weather. The authority warns especially residents and drivers in the south and western parts of Scania of severe icy conditions.
