What would you do if you’d finished your course, had no plans for the afternoon and the weather was perfect? Visit the beach with some fellow internationals to spot some seals!
Lundagård’s Fiona Almond joined with a crew for a afternoon at the shore.
On Friday, a bright and sunny but traditionally Swedish cold and breezy day, eleven international students representing Sweden, England, The USA, Germany, Holland and China, gathered for the first trip organised by the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences.
Group leaders Charlotte Hagström, the programme coordinator for the Masters in Applied Cultural Analysis, and Lars Persson, a student advisor from the department, met the students at the train station before they guided us to the Falsterbor Pennisula in Southern Skåne, via train and bus.
– “Lots of international students expressed an interest to do more trips into nature, and we thought that we could provide the organisation. We were not sure what the turnout would be like, but I’m quite pleased with it.” said Charlotte Hagström.
– “I’ve not been too busy lately so it’s a good opportunity to catch up. The shoreline was described as such a beautiful place in the fall, and I´m not disappointed”, said American student Shannon McCrea, 20, from Northern California.
– “Shannon just text me and asked me what I was doing between 1 and 6 PM – so here I am”, said Henry Waldman, 22, from Santa Barbara.
With the sea air in our lungs and rosy faces from the refreshing cold we returned to the bus stop for the journey home. A lovely experience to see some true Scandinavian beauty.
– “I’m so glad we came”, said Emma Hollywell from England.
– “Sometimes you just have to say yes to doing an unusual activity, that’s how you have the best experiences”, said Maria Woods from England.
If you would like to join the international group on their next cultural activity, there will be ‘Baking with Brit’ on the 8th November from 3.15pm. This will be a unique opportunity to cook real Swedish Kanelbullar with Swedish lady with lots of cooking experience! Advise of your attendence to lars.persson@kultur.lu.se
